Review of Stacy's Multigrain Pita Chips

Stacy's -- Multigrain Pita Chips (vegan)
Overall Rating: 3.5/5
Summary: taste-wise, I quite enjoyed these. They were very fresh and crunchy and perfectly salted. The chips are thick, which makes each chip really satisfying. The texture is dimply, which is really nice. The only problem I have is related to the nutrition and ingredients. I could do without the enriched flour, the calories are pretty high for only 8 chips and the sodium is a tad high.

The thing is, how can 1 serving be only 9 chips?? No one actually eats NINE chips and says "Yup, that totally did the trick. I'll just put these away now." No one! Let's say we double the serving...18 chips. That's a more reasonable serving size, however it also takes the calories up to 280 for the serving and 540mg sodium. This is high for a just a snack. Add to that the enriched flour (less nutritious than whole grain wheat flour) and I have to give these chips an overall 3.5/5. On the plus side, it does have a nice poly- and mono-unsaturated fat content.

If you're not too bothered by the health-related facts, then you'll enjoy these! They were so super crunchy and because the chips are thicker than most, it's a decently filling snack. I really enjoyed the dimpled texture of the chip--I don't think I ever encountered this before! It was perfectly salted and even had a nice buttery aftertaste.

I think these would be great with hummus...perhaps an olive-flavoured hummus would complement it nicely.

I probably wouldn't buy this again simply because I tried the Cinnamon Sugar flavour (you can access my review below) and liked it better (because of my sweet tooth, of course!)
