Review of 'Kashi' Crunchy Granola Bar (Roasted Almond Crunch)

Kashi -- Crunchy Granola Bar (Roasted Almond Crunch)
Overall Rating: 4/5
Summary: Although I'm not normally a fan of crunchy bars, this one was really good. It's light but satisfying because there are 2 bars for each serving. The flavour is bang on and that roasted almond buttery goodness really comes through. Add to that a high protein, fiber, and healthy fats, this is a really good snack bar.

Where to buy: Fortinos, Shopper's Drug Mart

So for 2 bars, 170 cals is totally worth it. It's a satisfying snack (especially with some complementary tea -- I had Jacksons of Piccadilly --English Breakfast Tea). I really like that this is high in fiber and protein, which can be difficult to find in snack bars. It's low on the 'bad' saturated fat and high in the healthier poly- and mono-unsaturated and has natural sugars.

I normally opt for chewy bars and I'm not a big fan of crunchy snack bars but I actually enjoyed this one. It wasn't too crumbly and messy and I could actually break it into little bites without getting crumbs all over myself. The texture was nice -- it had perfectly sized bits of almonds to get my crunch on. The flavour wasn't disappointing and I actually got a good dose of that 'roasted almond' taste. I'm really happy about that. Once you chew it up, you get that buttery almond butter sweetness.

I probably wouldn't buy this again simply because I prefer chewy bars. But if you're a crunch fan, the flavour definitely makes this purchase-worthy!

I was also thinking about how I could bake with these. A food processor could make this a really versatile dessert ingredient. I'm thinking pie crusts, granola, toppings, cookies, etc. The possibilities are enormous!
