Review of 'Sabra' Supremely Spicy Hummus

Sabra -- Supremely Spicy Hummus (vegan)
Overall Rating: 4/5
Summary: oh so tasty! This is a perfectly seasoned hummus with a nice kick of spiciness and a hint of garlic. It's super smooth and I really appreciate that there's no strong chickpea aftertaste. Despite the spicy kick, it coulda been a little spicier! I would buy this product again.

So the ingredients are nice and clean and the nutritional profile is decent. It's a low-cal spread/dip that's just deelish. I normally use it in wraps or as a dip for my veggies. My family uses it as a spread on toast like every other day -- they love it! I'm really looking forward to trying the other flavours!

Check out their recipes here (e.g. Grilled Veggie Hummus Wrap).

Brand (quoted from sabra.com):
  • I'm not too happy with having recently read that Sabra is fighting GMO labelling efforts (read it here).
  • Owned by two independent, global food companies – PepsiCo, based in the US, and Strauss Group, which is headquartered in Israel.
  • "...new plant in Richmond, Virginia. 20% of the building is constructed from recycled materials and almost all of the construction waste materials will be recycled...at least 35% of the building’s energy will come from renewable resources."
  • "Sabra’s new packaging is made from 30-45% post consumer recycled plastic."
  • Community support: "We have informally adopted two community centers near our plant in Virginia as well."
