Review of `Stonemill` Organic Spelt

Stonemill -- Organic Spelt (vegan)
Overall Rating: 4/5
Summary: I enjoyed the savoury flavour of this bread. It has a really nice crust when toasted, it's low in sodium, and goes very well with deli slices and cheeses. It's definitely lighter than what I normally buy, which was a welcomed change. However, I did get bored with it very quickly. I missed the texture of denser breads with more seeds and nutty flavours. I also wish it had a bit more fiber. Still, it's a great-tasting bread with a really good nutritional profile, so I 'd buy it again.

Where to buy: Fortinos, Metro, Sobeys, Costco, Wal-Mart, Longos

Head's up to those with wheat-intolerance--this is a great substitute. It's organic and is nutrient-rich. I love that it's low calorie AND low-sodium...AND has no sugar (head's up to diabetics, as well). It has a decent 5g of protein, a modest 3g of fiber (modest in my opinion, anyway), and 10% iron. This is a great bread for a meal...I say grilled cheese sandwich, deli sandwich, or with breakfast eggs.

Remember that because there are no preservatives added, you are better off refrigerating or freezing Stonemill breads. I refrigerate and after toasting, there's no difference in taste or texture.
