Review of 'Annie Chun's' Miso Soup Bowl

Annie Chun's -- Miso Soup Bowl (vegan)
Overall Rating: 3/5
Summary: this soup has a decent nutritional profile, perfect amount of saltiness, and very nicely textured noodles. Nevertheless, I have had tastier soups and I would have liked more toppings added (e.g. bigger/more chunks of tofu, mushrooms).
Where to buy: Fortino's. You can probably find this at Wholefoods as well, since it's available at Wholefoods in the US.

So the 8g protein and 4g fiber is quite nice, but not enough to make me want to buy this again because let's face it, flavour is where it's at. Furthermore, this soup has a *very* high sodium content so I'm not at all pleased about that. It's just soup, after all...not like a huge meal!

So flavour-wise, I was happy that it was not too salty (I was expecting too must saltiness after reading how much sodium it had) and the texture of the noodles was great (best part of the soup as it had a slight chew). There was tofu, onions, and scallions which added texture, but I didn't really get the presence of the tofu as much as I would have liked. A firmer tofu chopped into bigger chunks may have worked better.

I did really like that there were no preservatives, that it was easy to prepare (either microwave or add boiling water and  let stand 2 minutes), and that it was actually very filling for a soup.

Also, the fact that the packaging is eco-friendly was great to see. The bowl is made of cornstarch and the carton is made from 100% recycled paperboard.
