Review of 'Toufayan' Pita Bread (White)

Toufayan -- Pita Bread (White) (vegan)
Overall Rating: 2.5/5
Summary: pretty average, unless toasted. Nothing too exciting. I would have liked it to be more pliable, but it tends to break when you try to roll it or get creative. It's not very high-fiber and the preservative used, calcium propionate, has been linked to negative health effects. Note that these have not been confirmed, as they are only "links".

Where to buy: U.S. grocery stores (Florida, Maryland)

Ingredients: enriched wheat flour (contains niacin, reduced iron, thiamine mononitrate [vitamin B1], riboflavin [vitamin B2], folic acid), water, yeast, contains less than 2% of each of the following: sugar, salt, calcium propionate.

I won't recommend this product. It's pretty unimpressive when it comes to nutritional value, particularly the fiber. I would have been happy for whole wheat, whole grains, and/or no calcium propionate preservative linked to (though not confirmed!) negative health effects.

Other pita flavours:
Brand:
  • Uses enriched flour, meaning its refined (been stripped of natural nutrients)
  • All of Toufayan products are Kosher Parve or Dairy
  • Does not list nutritional information online (only on package)
  • Does not mention GMO status on website

  1. Your bread is a disgrace! my children can't stand it its raw, falls apart if not microwaved. We have no choice but to buy it since you dominate the markets.I know what good bread is was raised on it.your mass production has to be improved.we are humans not animals.please improve it.
