Review of Bush's 'Vegetarian Baked Beans'

Bush's -- Vegetarian Baked Beans (vegan)
Overall Rating: 3/5
Summary: very, very sweet. Slight smoky flavour. Perfect texture. It says it's in a tangy sauce with brown sugar and spices, but it's all sweet to me....perhaps a bit too sweet, even for me. I like the nutritional profile for the low fat, high fiber and protein, but not for the sodium and sugar, both very high. I wouldn't buy this again simply because it's just way too much sodium and the brand itself isn't involved in any community outreach or support or sustainability initaitives...nothing. I'd prefer to search for a brand that's a bit more ambitious.

Where to buy: Walmart

The ingredients aren't bad, unless you take issue with the amount of sugar and the modified corn starch (which I can only assume is not non-GMO, as the website is not clear).

The nutritional profile is good. For only 130 calories, there's no fat, no cholesterol, and a really nice serving of fiber and protein. However, the sodium content is very, very high and there's a lot of sugar.
